100km Little Lindum ER, Aerborn Lindum Spirit ride, 26th July 2007

We are sponsoring the 100km Little Lindum ER again this year at the 2007 Aerborn Lindum Spirit ride. Details of last year's ride are here.

Abigail Lockett (GB) & Delorto Zaranz - Presidents Cup Abu Dhabi Feb 2007

We supplied Abigail with Tasteless salt, Electrolyte Syringes and Energex. Abbie came 23rd, out of 28 finishers and 101 horses that started in a time of 9hr 31min. For a horse that would have had limited time to acclimatise from British winter temperatures this is an excellent performance.

"I have been on the GB Young Rider Squad for the past 4 years and during this time have listened and taken advice from David Marlin of Science Supplements. I believe that their products have been attributable to our success. My horse Delorto Zaranz was British National Champion in 2004, winner of the Red Dragon 160km, together with best condition and best Arab award.

He competed in the YR 4* World Championships in Bahrain in 2005, winner of YR 125km at Weston Woods in 2006, completed YR 4* European Championships in the Czech Republic in 2006 and for my first year as a senior rider has completed the prestigious event 3* 160km Presidents Cup in Abu Dhabi in 2007.

During training and competition Science Supplements Tasteless Salt and Electrolyte Paste are administered. Zaranz can tell straight away if there is anything foreign in his feed, but he has no problem at all with eating his feed with the Tasteless Salt. An Electrolyte Paste is given at each Vet Gate and I believe that this helps with his low heart rate and quick presentation times.

Our International Travel Itinery has involved long periods of time in the lorry, ship and aircraft. Zaranz has emerged from his journeys looking bright, alert and well hydrated. Again I put this down to the Science Supplements products".

100km Denbigh Slate Endurance Ride, Cirencester

Dear Dr Marlin,

I was fortunate to win the 1st prize of £60 of Science Supplements. I would like to add £4.00 to this and purchase 8 x Electrolyte Paste. Whilst at Cirencester we used these pastes to great effect. We took them to the Northern Championships (we came 2nd this time) and used them again with amazing effect. During training we add Surelyte to every feed; we thought that the horse in question drank enough, but when we give him your electrolyte paste he drinks buckets.
Many thanks, Shelagh Bunn

Fiona Luke (under 21 Endurance rider)

Fiona Luke lives with her parents at West Stow. She is going into her third year of studying Vet. Med at Liverpool. Her mother (Dianne Luke) is Chairman of Anglian Distance Riders (~200 members) and organises a number of rides in East Anglia, usually based around Euston Park (near Thetford) or Kings Forest (adjacent to West Stow). These are now viewed as some of the top rides in the UK and a number are FEI (Federation Equestrian Internationale, the international horse sport governing body) rides. She has been on the GB under 21 team but this will be her last year. We are supplying Fiona with with electrolytes and nutritional support.

GB Under 21 Team and GB Senior Squad (Endurance)

We supplied the Under 21 Team that competed in Bahrain in the World Endurance Young Riders Championships with Tasteless Salt and Electrolyte syringes at distributor price. The team came 6 th out of 24 teams which was considered an excellent performance and certainly the best by a British Team in the recent years.

"We used both Science Supplements Tasteless Salt and the Electrolyte paste whilst competing in the Young Riders World Endurance Championship in Bahrain in 2005. One of main concerns was the possibility of metabolic problems caused by electrolyte imbalance. The tasteless salt product enabled us to get the necessary amount of salt into our horses pre-competition without putting horses off their feed. We followed David Marlin's instructions regarding feeding of both these and the paste. During the competition itself the paste was administered before the start, at every vet gate just prior to leaving and post competition. Bloods taken the following day showed that all electrolyte levels were within the normal range. Our horses had competed in temperatures in excess of 80°F and at speeds of around 20kmph".
